Che Adams being mentioned again, so could be something in it. Looks like Surridge could be going and the fact that when Woods was fit he was preferred to both Surridge and Dennis suggests that there is a question mark over Dennis. Adams comes over as a hard working player, making good runs and decent at holding the ball up so would be happy enough to get him, plus he has played in Premiership for a while now. May not start but a decent back up IMO.

Was thinking about who would be worth picking up in the relegated teams and can’t think of many. Rodrigo is very inconsistent, maybe Garner if Everton go down. Adams would be a decent buy in my opinion. Better than all our backup strikers for sure. Not many others I can think of. Ward Prowse not sure about.

I actually don't think we should be focusing on backup or squad players at all - we did that last summer, because we had no squad depth but we have a squad of 30/40 now, so we should be focusing on 5/6 players who can really strengthen the first XI or bring something different to the squad.
If Awonyini or Johnson is injured then at the moment Dennis, Surridge or Wood comes in - I don't think Che Adams coming in for Dennis really makes much difference to that dynamic.
I don't think there is really much talent in the sides that are going down - Maddison and Ward-Prowse will probably go to top 10 teams. As we need a left sided forward then there may be some value in Harvey Barnes, Jack Harrison or Luis Sinisterra but I imagine we will target overseas markets again.

I also think he's shite. Probably no better than Surridge and nowhere near as useful as Wood. This is his agent fishing for an exit... no way we're in for him.
Anyone think Hendo is worth paying £30mn for?

Me? What do I know.
I thought he was expensive on a £20mn option last season. Did his performances warrant a 50% hike? Definitely some good moments as the season wore on but for the first 15 games or so Id have marked as one of the weakest goalies in the PL... all those long shots we conceded and the difference in confidence of the back line when Navas stepped in was palpable, albeit with Felipe too.
Good keeper but for that kind of money + his wages there must be better options. Even Navas for another season at £10mn shades it for me.

Callum Hudson-Odoi rumour for £10m as well as interest in 21 yr old z Brazilian Pablo Maia. Glad to see we are targeting promising youngsters. MGW, Awoniyi, Danilo, Johnson, Mangala, Kouyate, Lodi. Could be a very young average age next season which I think you need to cope with the number of games…..

I don't mind Adams but I'd like to think we could do better now.
On the relegated clubs, from Southampton I'd expect Ward-Prowse and Lavia to get moves. I quite like Walker-Peters although not really a priority position for us assuming Aurier is staying. I'd take Harrison at Leeds, I think he's quite under-rated. I'd be happy with quite a lot of Leicester's squad really, I know they've been poor this season but it's still the same group of players that's been around the top six for the previous three years.
There seems to be an unusually large number of high profile players likely on the move this summer (eg Rice, Mount, Ward-Prowse, Maddison, McAllister and/or Caicedo, Tielemans, Zaha). It might mean a club like Forest could nab someone who would normally have got better offers...

I see Everton have decided not to take up the offer of Conor Coady for £4.5m. He's only 30. I don't know why Everton wouldn't take him. He's only played 6 times under Dyche.
Decent defender I think.

It looks like we would like to move on Shelvey (as per the Times) but who is going to pick him up on 70k a week? I bet Newcastle couldn't believe it when we took both him and Wood off their hands.
If anyone is getting bored yet then I looked at when we signed our first players last year - it was Awoniyi on the 25th of June. He was the only player we signed in June last year. We then signed 10 in July, 6 in August and 5 in September.

Shouldve been picked for England over McGuire. A snip at under £5mn too. Hudson-Odoi's a steal at £10mn and would fill a hole on the left wing. We can afford to be patient this window. Be interesting to see who gets shipped out.

Dyche doesn't want Coady for the same reason Wolves let him go - They play with a back four and he needs needs to play in a five.
Even in the context of modern football wages it's crazy if Shelvey is on that much. Obviously no Premier League side will take him so, assuming he wants to play and not just be the next Arter, we'll have to pick up 50%+ of his wages so he can go to a Championship club.

Nottingham Forest still hold an active interest in Sydney van Hooijdonk, apparently we were after him back in 2021

He got a 4 year contract from Sept 2020 so another year still. Worst of all is that he reportedly had a clause in his contract that his wages double if we got to the Prem, it just didn't mention whether he had to have any part in achieving that! Retained and leaving list has been released by the club - www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2023/june/02/forest-confirm-retained-list/
