Would be very good to get all 3 points here if we are to stand a chance of staying up. 1-3 Toon

Strong lineup today.
Conceding from their first corner like that stings. Someone on the field (Yates) needs to take ownership and organise us. Trippier and Guimares both left open, its not good enough.
Clear progress in our attacking play though. Nuno has the front 4 humming now. Looking like a proper pl team this half.

If this team could find consistency it could really do damage. Instead it has a serious mistake in every game which has haemorrhaged us points

Arsenal have sent us down with Tavares and Turner. Both just as bad in their positions. Tavares would be a better winger than defender just can’t shoot.

Our ongoing inability to win games is very concerning.

Still, some positives.
Man for man they arent much better than us and they finished what 4th last season. At least without Isak.
What made the difference yesterday was set pieces and game management. Things that come from having a settled squad, a steady manager and leaders on the pitch.
Actually thought Tavares and Williams did alright but they cant defend like proper full backs. Might be part of whats going wrong on set pieces.
The squad is what it is now anyway. Maybe if we had a defensive leader in the mould of Keane or Pearce we'd stop shipping silly goals and start turning these decent performances into points. Can Yates do it?

We made costly mistakes under Cooper and we are still making them. This was a very winnable match but we just keep concerning silly goals West Ham next, who are badly out of form, really need to get in among them.

Are you suggesting we put Yates in defence? Nah I'm saying he's a defensive minded player with leadership qualities who could get our gameplan organised. The first of their goals couldve been avoided if someone on the pitch with tactical nouse had been shouting orders. Probably the second and third too. If not Yates then who... Matz Sels perhaps?
