Yeah when you think of Maradona, Koeman, disallowed goals (Campbell), red cards and non-given goals then I can't get too down about a soft penalty given to us. Would take a few more of them on Sunday as well. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Italians will take any which way they can to get the win so if we get a few dodgy decisions then fuck em.
Us English are too honest sometimes and if we'd have had a bit more of the 'dark arts' about us we probably would've won more. Everyone else does it and we get left behind trying to stay on our feet, not realising that sometimes you have to pull a shirt or two to give away a tactical free kick etc. Usually ends up with us on the plane home after a couple of rounds if we're lucky whilst the other nations fight it out for titles.
Over the years we've tried to win playing fair and the other nations have just tried to win, guess who's had more success....

Some harsh truths but I think there is no better time than the night you lose the Euros final to point them out.
People will say Southgate is a great England manager because he got to a World Cup semi final and a Euros final but please look a bit closer.
The football really is too negative to enjoy. Yes, we progress, but is it really entertaining to watch?
The quality of the team has been exaggerated by progression to the later stages of tournaments due to shrewd "tournament management" by Southgate in 2018 and a frankly ridiculously lucky draw this year. What happened in each tournament when we finally played a heavyweight side? We went out.
The sad thing is we have a generation of attacking talent who could be utilised to play much more attractive, entertaining and successful football, but Southgate doesn't play them that way.

Last night was the first England match I've watched in over a decade. The football was negative, defensive and dull. They played well as a unit, however, they seemed to defend from the midfield and had no attacking threat except on the counter attack. No player stood out as being particularly good.

I'd have rather we lost 5-4 having had a good go at Italy, than watch that bore fest dished up by Southgate. I really lost interest in the second half. I thought once we got that early goal we'd have had a go at Italy. Instead, I watched another 118 minutes of one team trying to win, and one team trying not to lose. Horrible football, and the sad thing is, we've now got 9 months of the same shit which will be dished up by Hughton at Forest. Seriously lads, if this is modern football, you can keep it. My interest is waning rapidly.

Unfortunately, we were second best for long periods of last night's game, perhaps we didn't really do ourselves justice.
Great to get the early goal but after that Italy bossed the midfield. Rice and Phillips worked bloody hard but were overran. There wasn't enough support from defence stepping up so it fell to Kane and Sterling to drop deep - which in turn took away our attacking threat.
We were crying out for a change in formation, it is frustrating that it took until Italy equalised to make it. I thought we looked a lot better when we went 4-3-3. We looked even better when Grealish came on but unfortunately that seemed too late as well.
Penalties - I find it odd that Rashford and Sancho were brought on just to take penalties, then having a 19 year old take the 5th one seemed a bit strange as well. People miss penalties though. It happens. I won't hold it against any of them.

Safegates not a good manager. He does not know how to win games against decent opposition.

2018 World cup semi final. England score after 5 minutes and go on to have just 2 shots on target before losing 2-1.
2020 Euro final. England score after 2 minutes and go on to have just 2 shots on target before losing to Italy on pens.
Maybe the penny might drop with Southgate that scoring and sitting back doesn't work at the business end of International football.

I think scoring early actually caused us a problem. It wasn't part of the plan and put us in a dilimma of whether to go for them or whether we protect it.

It doesn’t work at Forest either but WHEN will that penny drop if ever??!! Tbh, I couldn’t give one F##k about England. I’m glad they lost, bunch of over hyped, overpaid muppets they are. Only reaching a WC semi final with the easiest ever path to a WC semi final and ditto with the Euros Final. If their qualifying groups were a bit tougher maybe they’d get more respect but you know as soon as the qualifying groups are drawn England will be at that tournament with the players being praised as “World class” by pathetic pundits and media coz we hammered Andorra, San Marino etc. It’s Bollocks.

Have we been watching the Luros* then? I've enjoyed them. Looking forward to the final *lady euros I gave it a miss. I’ve got the arse about all Football except Nottingham Forest in general so that was one thing. Also, I felt like I was being lectured every time I saw anything so I decided it was best for my sanity to do something else. Haven’t watched the news for a few days either afterwards as they analysed it to death and somehow deciding it’s unfair that womens’ football needs more funding whilst failing to ask why people vote with their wallets and their feet don’t go to watch it. It’s not that they can’t, they just don’t. I don’t know how you fix that.

It’s not that they can’t, they just don’t. I don’t know how you fix that. I’m pleased they won but couldn’t get into the tournament as the quality was lacking, as evidenced by the number of one sided games. It was also ridiculously over hyped and over politicised. It’s a shame the media couldn’t celebrate England’s very respectable achievement without framing the result as the women’s game having somehow got one over the men’s game. “They’ve achieved what the men couldn’t do” has no substance as they don’t play the same teams, they would have only achieved what the men didn’t do if they’d beaten the Italy men’s team in the final. Likewise going on about it being the highest attended Euros final either in the men’s or women’s game might be true on a literal level but conveniently ignores that the tickets for the women’s Euros were much cheaper than the men’s Euros and that the attendance for the Euro 2020 final was limited to 75% capacity due to the pandemic.
